ARCNET-L is an email list that allows informal communication among individuals interested in the issues of blood safety and specifically transfusion-transmissible diseases. Any member can send a message to a central computer that relays the message to every member of the list. ARCNET-L is open to all interested parties both inside and outside of the United States. The list serves as a means of rapid dissemination of information to those working in the field of blood safety as well as other interested parties. Message topics have included press articles on recent infectious disease research, policy matters regarding variant CJD and news regarding advances in diagnostics. Additionally, a selection of relevant abstracts from current journal articles is distributed periodically in a format that permits downloading to a bibliographic database. Discussion of issues by list members is always encouraged.
