Apheresis donors during earthquake drills
The Medical Director of a west coast blood center was asked by her blood center safety officer if there is a standard procedure for dealing with apheresis donors on machines during an earthquake drill. The donor center recently had such a drill and the question arose as to what to do about donors in the middle of apheresis procedures. The donor center would appreciate any direction as to how to handle this situation from other blood centers that have these drill events on a regular basis.
