Handling a recall of prior collections from a donor who admits to a past diagnosis of multiple sclerosis

A transfusion medicine physician in New England has received a recall concerning a blood donor who had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) 27 years prior to the index donation, and only recently called the blood collection center 'after the fact' with the information. The inquiring physician has done a cursory review of the literature and reports having found nothing on the potential transmissibility of MS by blood or plasma from a MS patient. He wonders if any colleagues have any experience and/or information in response to this question.
