Is anyone aware of Internet-based systems for managing blood bank information?

A member of the e-Network is interested to know if anyone is aware of internet-based or web based blood bank information  systems?  This would include on-line systems that aid in donor recruitment, donor scheduling, notification of donor eligibility, etc.  In addition, is the membership aware of systems that link remote fixed or mobile blood collection site via dial-up (or LAN) access to donor records (so that nurses can check prospective donor's past donation history), electronic linkage between laboratories so that one site can provide remote serologic crossmatching or electronic crossmatch (as in centralized transfusion services), or electronic linkage of inventory management systems, etc.

1. A physician who works at the Puget Sound Blood Center (PSBC) commented that his institution has extensive experience in the use of internet-based technology for donor recruitment and management. This blood center has provided information concerning the various applications to the members of ABC. A good deal of this can be found by perusing the PSBC website.

Please submit comments to the e-Network Forum.
