Food and Drug Administration (FDA) imposes donor deferral regarding the use of AVODART (dutasteride)

Men being treated with dutasteride for benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) should not donate blood until at least 6 months have passed following their last dose. The purpose of this deferral period is to prevent administration of dutasteride to a pregnant female transfusion recipient. Information about blood donation deferral is included on the Avodart® website HERE.
