FDA Verifies that it is Permissible to Convert Fresh Frozen Plasma AABB PulsePoints At a meeting of representatives from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and AABB's FDA Liaison Committee on November 18, 2002, at AABB's National Office, FDA verified that it is permissible to convert Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) to Recovered Plasma at any time during the storage period or at outdate if the FFP is prepared from Whole Blood. If FFP is prepared by apheresis, it is necessary to wait for the FFP to outdate before converting to Recovered Plasma. A special edition of Regulatory Update, including further details on today's meeting, will be available in the near future. END |
