In April, 2005 Laurie Naiman officially retired as the Webmaster of the CBBS Web Site. We wish to express our immense gratitude for his years of hard work and extend our best wishes for many years ahead of fun, relaxation and photography!
Please read below.
I wish to express my deepest appreciation for all of the hard work and dedication shown by Dr. Naiman on behalf of the CBBS Website. His outstanding efforts helped to create a "home" for the e-Network Forum. I have not doubt that being able to use the CBBS Website as a repository for the numerous e-Network Forum discussions contributes to the success and popularity of that internet based project.
Ira A. Shulman, M.D.
e-Network Forum Editor & Moderator
1994-1995 CBBS President
Laurie Naiman is responsible for the very existence of the CBBS web site. Laurie was ahead of his time in having the necessary computer skills to develop a web site at a time when their development was not common. When his name was suggested to those of us in the CBBS who were interested in developing a CBBS web site, he enthusiastically embraced the idea and went to work. Soon it was up and running and the initial efforts were followed by a long solo tenure as the web master. If he had not been available and strongly supportive of the mission of the CBBS, development of the site would likely have languished. As it is, the CBBS has the most advanced, informative and most often used transfusion medicine web site in existence. All of this was done in Laurie’s quiet unassuming style and his contributions would likely have gone unnoticed without tributes such as this one. We all owe a debt of gratitude to him.
Lawrence Petz, M.D.
1998-1999 CBBS President
Dr. Naiman has set an example as one of the most dedicated and determined supporters of the CBBS. His guidance and leadership in our Society and the greater blood banking community has served to greatly benefit both the organization and profession. He is one of the kindest and most gentle colleagues, with which, we have had the honor to serve. We wish him all the best in his retirement but will surely miss him in our CBBS activities.
Mike Fuller
1999-2000 CBBS President
My first encounter with Laurie Naiman was at one of our board meetings, when I just because the liaison of the then "ad hoc committee on computers".  Laurie was extremely enthustaic about being the web master of the CBBS web site.  He could also see the immense potential of that web site, both to broadcast the CBBS message far and wide, but also to be a help to all the members.  As we worked through his ideas, most of which are now in effect, I felt grateful to have been able to work with Laurie Naiman and help him realize most of what he saw as the direction of the web site.  I was then, and continue to be amazed at how humble, gentle and truly dedicated Laurie Naiman is to CBBS.  We have indeed been blessed to have had our web site started by a man of vision and dedication to having one of the most popular web sites on our profession.
Virginia (Ginny) Vengelen-Tyler, MBA, MT(ASCP) SBB, CQA (ASQ)
2001-2002 CBBS President

California Blood Bank Society (CBBS) is indebted to Dr. Lawrence Naiman for his tireless efforts in designing and maintaining the CBBS website. It has been a pleasure to watch our web site grow under the development and direction of Dr. Naiman. His dedication and commitment is unsurpassed. CBBS has truly been fortunate to have someone like Dr. Naiman to have taken on this task as a hobby and we are indebted to his contributions. Although it is with sadness that we say "adieu", we know that Dr. Naiman will be keeping a watchful eye on our website as he enjoys his retirement! Relax and enjoy and many many thanks Dr. Naiman! We will miss you.

On behalf of all CBBS members, I want to thank Laurie Naiman, M.D., for his dedication and commitment to all of us in the California Blood Bank Society. His vision and subsequent tireless efforts, have been of great benefit to not only members of CBBS, but also blood bankers throughout the world.
It has always been a pleasure to know Dr. Naiman and a tribute to his efforts is greatly deserved.
Dr. Naiman, thank you, and I hope to see a few more photographs of "California Beyond Walls, " now that you have more free time to take them.
Thomas Schallert, President
CBBS
I am eternally grateful to Dr. Naiman for his selfless dedication, guidance, mentoring, and especially his friendship. You are very much missed! It has been my honor to learn from such a master of many trades, and I hope that I am successful in maintaining his vision for providing what is considered the benchmark website of our profession.
Eileen Selogie, MT(ASCP)SBB
Current CBBS Webmaster

When I started the job of Central Office Manager, I was pretty much clueless about everything, but especially about preparing documents to be posted on the website. Dr. Naiman patiently, and repeatedly, made suggestions for improvement so the documents would look professional, have version control, and work in the intended manner (most of the time). One of my favorite projects was working with Dr. Naiman on the screensaver for the 2004 Annual Meeting. Through his pictures, I came to know him better and appreciate him even more. It has been a pleasure to work with Laurie. I value his input and his friendship (and hope he doesn't mind when I continue to send him documents for suggestions!).
Judy Parker, MT(ASCP)SBB
CBBS Central Office Manager

It has been a pleasure to know Laurie since he first came to California and joined the blood banking/transfusion medicine community here. He fit right in and contributed from the very beginning. But, Laurie's efforts on the CBBS web site have been the ultimate in quiet but ongoing, efficient and helpful contributions not only to those of us in California but many others throughout the country, and beyond in most parts of this world. Perhaps, there are even extra terrestrials observing and learning like all of us. The CBBS web site has provided extensive information and discussions which have been immensely helpful and illuminating. We will miss his daily efforts but know that what he started will continue to bear fruit for all of us for years to come. Thank you, Laurie, for this and for you. Have a great retirement!
Paul Holland, M.D.

We all wish Dr. Naiman and his assistant,
Mocha a happy retirement!
